World War II Veterans to receive free airplane rides this summer
World War II veterans will have a chance to fly in a N2S-5 Boeing Kaydet, U.S. Navy primary trainer for free this summer, beginning June 24. Flights are courtesy of the Air Zoo and pilot/sponsor Alan Wright.
“We, along with Alan, are pleased to be able to “give back” to those who sacrificed to defend our national freedom,” says Bob Ellis, executive director of the Air Zoo.
Flights—which will run through August 28—will be offered each Tuesday and Wednesday (weather permitting). Flights will be scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis and those flying will need to sign a waiver. A maximum of six flights per day will be offered, and veterans must reserve a flight by calling the Air Zoo at 269.382.6555, ext. 121.
Veterans who take advantage of the flight will also be able to receive discounted admission to the Air Zoo on the day of their flight.
“This program offers a rare opportunity for veterans to experience a flight in an open cockpit aircraft,” says Ellis.
