Area children will be given the chance to take a free ride in an airplane at the Air Zoo on Saturday, May 3 through the EAA’s “Young Eagle” program, courtesy of EAA Chapter 221.
Weather permitting, children between the ages of 8 and 17 can sign up for a flight at the Air Zoo’s original building between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on the day of the flights. A parent or guardian must sign a permission form in order for a child to fly. The form can be filled out at the Air Zoo on the day of the event.
“This program has been a phenomenal success in getting young people excited about aviation because it gives them a taste of how dynamic and fun flying really,” says Stu Bailey, deputy director of education at the Air Zoo.
