Source: Danielle Nicholl
Job Title: Public Relations & Marketing Manager
On Oct. 8 from 1-3 p.m. the Air Zoo will hold a public flu and pneumonia immunization clinic offered by Borgess VNA Home Care.
Visiting nurses from Borgess VNA Home Care will be administering the flu shot for $33 and the Flu Mist nasal spray for $33 (available to those between the ages of 2 and 49). The Fluzone High-Dose influenza vaccine is new this year and designed specifically for people 65 years of age and older, costing $52. All of this year's flu vaccines protect against the H3N1 virus, influenza B virus and H1N1 virus.
The pneumonia vaccine will also be available at the clinic for $60. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends this vaccine for any adult between the age of 19 and 64 who smokes or has asthma.
Flu and pneumonia shots are covered by Medicare Part B. Borgess will provide a receipt that can be submitted to insurance companies or flex plan for reimbursement to those who are paying privately. Cash, checks, Visa and MasterCard are accepted.
