Win a scholarship to an Air Zoo summer camp
May 5, 2009
KALAMAZOO, Mich.-From hands-on fun and experiments to speaking one-on-one with accomplished woman scientists and aviators, the Air Zoo's Girls Science Academy camp is set to be an exciting educational program. And thanks to 5/3 Bank, scholarships will be available to girls who might not have been able to afford the camp.
"The Air Zoo and 5/3 Bank understand the financial stress that many families are going through right now," says Cindy Scheuer, curator of education and public programming at the Air Zoo, "We want girls to be able to come out, have fun and learn about all the fantastic things they can do with a career in science or aviation. We want to thank 5/3 for this scholarship that will hopefully help girls reach their dreams."
The Girls Science Academy is a day camp that will run August 24-28 and is open to young girls ages 9 to 14. To apply for one of the 15 scholarships, girls must write a 500-word essay explaining why they are applying for a scholarship to the Girls Academy and discuss past experiences that have lead to their interest in aviation, science and technology. They should also talk about what they expect from this adventure, how will they will use and share their Academy experiences with others and how they heard about the Academy. Essays should be received no later than Wednesday, July 1, 2009 to be considered.
Essays should be sent to:
