KALAMAZOO, Mich. - Have you ever wanted to fly in a historic 83-year-old airliner or soar in a World War II bomber? Now is your chance! This summer, the Air Zoo is offering flight opportunities in a Ford Tri-Motor, North American B-25 Mitchell and Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress.
Guests can take flight in these aircraft with an array of flight opportunities including:
$80 per person
The Ford Tri-Motor was the world's first mass-produced airliner. Between 1925 and 1933, the Ford Motor Co. built 199 Tri-Motors. Today, only about 12 Tri-Motors remain. The Tri-Motor flight experience will last about 15 minutes and will take place at the Air Zoo's East Campus.
North American B-25 Mitchell
$400 per person
The North American B-25 Mitchell was one of the most versatile and widely-used aircraft during WWII. As a medium bomber, it was often used for treetop raids in the Pacific. Its most famous role was in Gen. Doolittle's 1942 raid on Tokyo. The Yankee Air Museum's B-25 Yankee Warrior will offer a select number of 30-minute flights at the Air Zoo's East Campus.
Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress
$425 per person
The Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress was one of the most important bombers in history. B-17s fought in every theater of WWII, but are best remembered for their dangerous daylight bombing missions over Germany. The Yankee Air Museum's B-17G Yankee Lady is one of 12,731 Flying Fortresses built between July 28, 1935 and April 13, 1945. The Yankee Lady will take a limited number of 30-minute flights throughout the day.
