KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Experimental Aircraft Association inducted Air Zoo co-founder Pete Parish into its Sport Aviation Hall of Fame in Oshkosh, Wis., on Nov. 15 for all of his contributions towards aviation.
The EAA Sport Aviation Hall of Fame was established to honor the outstanding achievements of men and women who share the spirit of EAA's founder: a passion for the freedom that flight offers. Hall of Fame inductees are selected by their peers for the myriad of contributions made to their particular realm of flight and aviation as a whole.
"This honor is well-deserved upon Pete," said Bob Ellis, Air Zoo president and CEO. "His contributions towards aviation and the Air Zoo are invaluable. Without Pete, the museum would not be where it is today."
Parish's contributions towards aviation include serving in the U.S. Marine Corps as a machine gun company officer during the South Pacific Campaigns of World War II and receiving the Bronze Star for his involvement. He served as vice chairman of the Upjohn Company Board of Directors, helping to develop the Upjohn Aviation Department. He co-founded the Kalamazoo Aviation History Museum (now known as the Air Zoo) in 1977 and currently serves as chairman on its board of directors. Parish also served as the president of Warbirds of America, trustee of the EAA Foundation, and treasurer and chairman of the National Business Aviation Association.
