Air Zoo hosts American Red Cross blood drive
April 16, 2010
Every two seconds someone in the United States needs a blood transfusion. The average adult usually gives 1 pint of blood during a donation, which can save up to three lives.
On Tuesday, April 20 from 10:15 a.m. to 4 p.m. area residents can help alleviate blood shortages by donating to the American Red Cross at the Air Zoo. The American Red Cross supplies approximately 40 percent of the nation's blood supply and provides blood for patients in nearly 3,000 hospitals across the United States.
Blood donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh a minimum of 110 pounds, be in good health and have a photo ID present. Donors are eligible to give blood every 56 days.
For more information about donating blood, please visit www.redcross.org or call 1.800.GIVE.LIFE. For more information about the Air Zoo, please call 269.382.6555 or visit www.airzoo.org.
