Homeschool Programs

The Air Zoo is committed to education...including homeschool education.

If you have a group of homeschoolers and would like to have an Air Zoo education program presented, please call our Group and Event Coordinators at 269.350.2848 to schedule a date. Dates fill fast!


Homeschool Discovery Days

Designed specifically for homeschooled children ages 5-12, Homeschool Discovery Days are held once a month throughout the school year.

Each multi-disciplinary program has an emphasis on a variety of activities related to aviation and space. Students will explore these subjects through fun and fascinating hands-on activities.

Each session costs $20 per child.

April 9, 2013: The Science of Air, It's Everywhere!
10-11:30 a.m.
For kindergarten-2nd graders

Students will perform experiments to demonstrate the concept that air occupies space. An introduction to Bernoulli's Principle and Pascal's Law will be followed by activities with flying creations!

April 9, 2013: Friction in Our Lives
1-2:30 p.m.
For 3-6th graders

Friction is a force that opposes motion. The amount of friction depends on the surface type and the force pressing two objects together. We will explore examples from everyday life and how friction helps or hinders everything we do.

May 7, 2013: Blast into Summer Fun!
10-11:30 a.m. (for kindergarten-2nd graders)
1-2:30 p.m. (for 3-6th graders)

Learn the history of model rocketry, and review and experiment with Newton's Laws of Motion-all while building and launching your own model rocket!
