2015 Air Zoo Science Camps and Classes for Kids Aged PreK - 12th Grade

The Air Zoo offers the coolest science-based summer camps and classes in Southwest Michigan! Financial Aid and Early drop-off/After-Care are available!


This summer, give your kids a summer camp experience they'll remember for the rest of their lives! (They'll learn a lot too, but we don't have to tell them that :) ). The Air Zoo Summer Science Camps are the coolest camp offerings in West Michigan, and are sure to thrill even the most discerning camper! The camps are listed below in order of date. See why the Air Zoo is quickly becoming one of the nation's top aerospace & science education centers! Air Zoo Summer Camps make a great gift!

Our professional educators will share the thrill of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), and aviation with campers through hands-on activities and interactive experiments. Campers will get an in-depth look at the Air Zoo, including the 4D theater, full-motion flight simulators and much more! Because some portions of the camp will take place outdoors, campers need to dress appropriately for the weather. Air Zoo members receive 10% off all camps. Financial Aid is available! Motion Madness!
June 16-17, 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Sticky, Icky Science

Explore the Air Zoo's diverse ecosystems as we tromp through fields and forests, and splash in ponds with a wildlife biologist. Collect and identify local species, make a bio-bottle to grow your own wildlife at home, study animal adaptations in our Tracking Tigers exhibit, and meet Mr. Charlie Mench, a local bird expert, along with his favorite feathered friends! Design, build, and program a Lego EV3 robot to complete daily challenges. Use your creativity in modifying your robot design to navigate a maze, locate a target by sound, and push your opponents off a challenge mat! Monday: Aviation Design - Explore the science and history of aviation while launching an F-14 off an aircraft carrier, flying simulators, and testing wing designs in a wind tunnel.

Tuesday: Crime Scene Investigation - Investigate a crime scene, examine fingerprints, analyze trace evidence using microscopes while solving an Air Zoo mystery!

Wednesday: Electric Laboratory - Build a working telegraph, experiment with a powerful electromagnet, and discover how to make an electric generator.

Thursday: Tinkerer's Workshop - Use recycled and common materials to engineer new creations, like dowel rod structures, wire sculptures, and other DIY contraptions.

Friday: Rocketry - Build and fire up your own take-home rocket while exploring Newton's Laws of Motion and recording altitude and speed data.

Work with the professional restoration crew at the Air Zoo to help bring the Wildcat that was recently raised from the bottom of Lake Michigan closer to exhibit condition.
