The Air Zoo is home to the Michigan Aviation Hall of Fame (MAHF) and is responsible for coordination and management of the nomination and award process, as well as the annual induction ceremony.
Nominations are accepted throughout the year and held for the next selection process. A nomination committee selects the finalists, and inductees are chosen via a membership vote.
To be nominated for enshrinement into the MAHF, the individual must have been born in Michigan, been a Michigan resident at the time of the contribution, or have a strong Michigan connection for which they are being nominated.
The MAHF also accepts nominations for the following awards:
Harriet Quimby Award
This award acknowledges significant contributions to the history of flight through art or literature. The individual being nominated must have been born in Michigan, been a Michigan resident at the time of the contribution, or have a strong Michigan connection for which they are being nominated.
Gen. Arthur P. Tesner Spirit of Flight Award
This award highlights the outstanding achievements of aviation and/or space organizations. The organization and/or its contributions must be based in Michigan.
To nominate an eligible individual/organization for enshrinement or an award, please download the nomination form and return it to:
Attn: Michigan Aviation Hall of Fame
6151 Portage Road
Portage, MI 49002
**Nominations for the 2013 class are now closed. To be included in the 2014 selection process, nominations must be received by August 31, 2013.**
Enshrinement into the MAHF is a prestigious accomplishment. Many distinguished air and space pioneers are currently on our nomination ballot. In order to make your nominee more competitive, please make your nomination package as thorough and comprehensive as possible. Please include detailed narratives, achievements, biographies, and photos (non-returnable) of the nominee. Once a nomination package has been submitted, it may always be updated with additional information as it becomes available.
If you have any questions on developing your nomination package, feel free to email Ben Dulmage or contact him at 269.350.2812.
