KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The world's only flying Boeing B-29 Superfortress, along with a North American P-51 Mustang, are coming to the Air Zoo this summer and you can have a chance to fly in them!
The Air Zoo is offering 30-minute flights in the Commemorative Air Force's B-29 FIFI, along with the Cavanaugh Flight Museum's P-51 The Brat III on Aug. 7 and 8. Flights start at $595 per person.
The Boeing B-29 Superfortress is a heavy bomber that was flown primarily by the U.S. in late World War II and through the Korean War. It is best known for carrying out two missions over Hiroshima and Nagasaki that brought WWII to an end.
The North American P-51 Mustang is among the best and most well-known fighters used by the U.S. Army Air Forces during WWII. The Mustang served in nearly every combat zone during WWII, and later fought in the Korean War.
Both planes will be on display outside of the Air Zoo's East Campus on Aug. 6 from 1-5 p.m. and on Aug. 7-8 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. AdmŽission to see the planes costs $10 per person or $20 per family (immediate family members only-children must be 17 years old or younger). Kids who are 12 years old and younger are free. Cockpit tours are included in admission, but not guaranteed due to the flight schedule.
To reserve a flight on the B-29 or P-51, visit www.RideB29.com or call 432.413.4100. For more information on the Commemorative Air Force and Cavanaugh Flight Museum, visit www.commemorativeairforce.org and www.cavanaughflightmuseum.com.
