Air Zoo to hold Model Aircraft Day

April 28, 2010

What is the difference between radio control and line control aircraft? On May 1, Air Zoo guests will find out!

During Model Aircraft Day, guests will learn all about radio control and line control aircraft, and they'll even get the chance to experience flight, firsthand!

Guests will have the chance to fly line control aircraft during the West Michigan Smoke Rings' free training flights, weather permitting. They'll also have the opportunity to command radio control aircraft through flight simulators, courtesy of Kent Radio Aero Modelers and the West Michigan Thunderbirds.

"We are thrilled to host such a great event where kids and adults alike can learn about model aircraft, as well as experience it for themselves," said Bob Ellis, Air Zoo President and CEO.

During the event, kids will be able to craft and take home their very own simple flying machines, thanks to the Academy of Model Aeronautics.

In addition to a 1/12th scale model of the SR-71 Blackbird, various radio control aircraft will also be on display throughout the Air Zoo.
