Creating Community in 2021

A letter from Troy -

Eight years ago, as I embarked on a new career at an aviation museum in Kalamazoo, Michigan, one of the first people I had the chance to get to know was Pete Parish. It was from Pete that I learned about the dream that inspired the Air Zoo and the vision our founders had for using the Air Zoo to strengthen our community for future generations.

Nearly a year after Pete’s death, it is still hard to think about the Air Zoo without him. Pete was one of the most intelligent, caring, and compassionate human beings I have had the pleasure of working within my career – and as honored as I was to work with him for nearly 8 years, the Air Zoo’s team and I are even more honored to shoulder the awesome responsibility of pushing forward the legacy that he and Sue started in this community more than 40 years ago.

Together, with your support, we will honor Pete’s legacy by investing even more in the work of making our community the best place to live, work and raise a family.

How will we do that? Over the last year, our team has been hard at work creating fun and free educational resources through our Launchpad to Learning, adding more of our impressive collection to our website, and brainstorming more ways to support families through educational programming and events. In short, we are working hard to make sure the resources at the Air Zoo are available to everyone in our community – as we know Pete would have wanted.

Will you help us continue this important work?
From new, free community STEAM days this summer, to more educational videos and increasing our online content your tax-deductible gift to the Air Zoo this year will support us as we shake off the impact of 2020 and enter growth mode again. We are excited to continue the work that our founders started and thank you, sincerely, for investing in us so we might continue to invest in our community.

Ad Astra – To the Stars!
